The future is uncertain for you and your party in UXO, but when a monster is killed and there's treasure to be had, each party member will definitely want to share in the spoils. The UXO loot distribution system affords you unprecedented ease throughout the looting process-there's even automated treasure distribution-ensuring that all party members receive their fair share with a minimum of fuss. The looting process is a common task in multiplayer online games (MMOGs), and the makers of UXO have examined the process in search of possible improvements. They have found and made many changes, from simple common-sense tweaks to system-wide technological upgrades. No more will you wander up to a treasure chest wondering if you have opened it before, if it contains something you can take, or if it is already picked dry. With UXO, the looting process is transformed.
Looting revealed
In UXO, when you kill a monster that carries treasure or gold, a chest appears near the corpse. Those without any looting rights cannot see the chest at all. Those with retrievable gold in the chest see a golden glow around it. Those with retrievable treasure in the chest see wisps of gold rising above it. So what you don't see, you need not investigate, and what you do see will contain something for you.

Once the chest is open an interactive window appears listing the contents of the chest and showing the items within it. You can hold your mouse cursor over any item in the chest to get a pop-up window with a list of that item's stats and who has looting rights for that item. A Loot All button collects all items assigned to you, and if you are a solo player you will collect all items in the chest. Items turn grey as they are removed by other players.

Assigned Items are distributed according to your party's chosen system (more on that later). The party that inflicts the most damage on a monster is the only group permitted to loot it upon its death. A solo player counts as a party of one for loot distribution purposes. If the monster recovers to 100% health at any point during the battle, the damage counter resets…so if you really want the treasure, don't let that bad guy out of your sight.
Gold Distribution
When a party acquires gold by clicking on a chest, the gold is automatically divided among the players in the party. When the number of gold pieces does not divide evenly into the number of players, the player who clicked on the gold receives the remainder. For example, say that Bella is a member of a four-person party and she clicks on a chest containing 103 gold. Each party member gets 25 gold, and Bella receives an additional three gold (the remainder) for clicking on the chest.
Luck o' the Irish
Luck in UXO plays an important role in determining which items a slain monster will drop. If you open a chest and see an item with a small four leaf clover in the lower right-hand corner of the item icon, this signifies that the item was awarded to you because of your Luck level. If you did not have the level of Luck you have, you would not have received that item. Luck can also make the properties of a looted item better than it would normally have been, and the four leaf clover will designate that as well. So keep that in mind when equipping items that have luck bonuses.
Assigned Item Distribution
Assigned Items are valuable or desirable items that are internally flagged in UXO, and they can be distributed several different ways. Past MMOGs have relied on party cooperation and player fairness to keep such items flowing into the right hands. This can lead to secret hoarding, and it always creates extra work when you distribute and exchange items. UXO's party order system automatically tracks and distributes assigned Items, saving you effort and letting you know for sure when it's your turn.
Now, you and your party get to decide which system you will use to distribute Assigned Items such as magical weapons or quality armor. You may opt for simple "self-service" loot distribution systems such as those available in past (MMOGs), or you may choose UXO's new Party Order system which tracks each player's acquisitions and distributes treasure in turns.
Your party leader may choose one of the following three methods to distribute Assigned Items:
Party Order
This is UXO's innovative new item distribution system. Each player in the party has a Loot Value which tracks the Assigned Items that they receive. The party member with the lowest Loot Value receives the next Assignable Item to appear.
Free For All
You click it, you got it. This is the simplest means of distributing items, with time-tested merits and problems. All items are available for the taking to all party members.
Leader
All Assigned Items go to the leader for manual distribution. A good method if you like your leader and your leader likes handing out items.
Once items have been looted from chests, you can simply mouse over the grayed item in the loot chest to see who looted the item. This comes in handy when you're hoping to trade for an item that just dropped, and you're wondering who grabbed it.
UXO's innovative treatment of looting has streamlined a process which consumed much of each player's time and effort in past MMOGs. Now you may use that extra time to explore Alucinor, kill more monsters, and generate more loot!
